Skillset Accreditation
Working with industry, Skillset accredits those practice-based degree courses that most effectively provide students with the skills and knowledge that employers need.

During the accreditation process, courses are assessed by an industry evaluation team. They focus on specific areas such as learning outcomes and course requirements. Applicants must provide evidence that the course reaches the high benchmarks set.
Creating standards of excellence in professional training across all skill areas and creative media sectors is the main objective of Skillset and the rest of accrediting bodies we recognise.

A review of Skillset Accreditation
After running pilot accreditation schemes, Skillset commissioned a full survey to review the selection process for courses and institutions. The Centre for Excellence in Media Practice (CEMP) along with the Art, Design and Media subject centre of the Higher Education Academy (ADM-HEA) undertook the independent evaluation and have produced this report:

The evaluation involved consultation with those who have been through the accreditation process. CEMP and ADM-HEA also consulted members of the panel responsible for the creation of the schemes and industry evaluators who were part of the accreditation and selection process.
Skillset is committed to building stronger links between the industry and Further and Higher Education. We have implemented the report's recommendations and we maintain an ongoing dialogue with all our partners to ensure that all our accreditation schemes continue to improve.
