The Southampton Skillset Media Academy offers first class media training to students and industry professionals on its undergraduate, postgraduate and short course programmes.
Accredited areas of the curriculum include Television Production, Broadcast Journalism, Screenwriting, Performance and Music.
There are development plans in place to add Animation, Computer and Video Games and Broadcast Operations to this list.
Significant investment in technical infrastructure and experienced teaching staff has created the ability to deliver high quality learning in High Definition Production, Digital Workflow and Content Management, Live and Outside Broadcasting, Post Production and Graphics, Web Streaming and Broadband Video.
The Academy boasts three television studios including its new HD Studio seating 160 people, a fibre optic network to allow for server-based working across the campus, a multi camera Outside Broadcast vehicle with 64 channel sound desk as well as multiple HD shooting kits and editing workstations.
Solent Productions is the Academy's multi-media production centre. It is designed specifically to generate annually several hundred hours of broadcast quality work experience for students by exploiting the University's strong partnerships with employers and industry, including a well established relationship with ITV.
Typical clients at Solent Productions include Phillips/NXP, Southampton Football Club, Glastonbury TV, the NHS and Skandia as well as national charities and public organisations.
