The National Film and Television School (NFTS) is at the heart of film and television training in the UK,

says NFTS graduate David Yates - and as a BAFTA-winning director of highly-rated television dramas like Sex Traffic and State of Play, not to mention Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, he should know.

Thanks to National Film and Television School, A Skillset Screen & Media AcademyWorking in purpose-built, industry-standard, television and film studios, NFTS students learn from some of the UK's most accomplished TV professionals. Taking on their future professional roles from the outset, they learn their craft by making TV programmes and films, working to professional standards as closely as they can.

It's an approach that gets results; students graduating from the Producing and Directing Television Entertainment course have all gained immediate employment in development research, as assistant producers or as directors. All three nominations in the Entertainment category at the Royal Television Society's Student Television Awards went to NFTS TV shows.

The NFTS has launched the careers of hundreds of people working in UK television today. From the people who originate the ideas - drama, factual, entertainment - through those who commission them, to the programme-makers who put them on our screens, NFTS alumni are among the most sought-after creative and technical personnel in the Industry.
