The Salford University Skillset Media Academy offers a comprehensive portfolio of practice based, creative undergraduate and post graduate programmes in digital media.
Undergraduate programmes are available in Mobile and Internet TV, Television and Radio production, Media Technology, Animation, Computer and Video games, Professional Broadcast Techniques, and Journalism.
MA programmes are offered in Journalism, Fiction Film Production, TV Documentary Production, Wildlife Documentary Production, Screenwriting,Television and Radio Scriptwriting and Social Media.
All courses feature:

- Cutting edge digital technology,
- Extensive workshops and masterclasses with eminent practitioners linked to BBC, Granada TV, Channel Four, National Film & Television School and the Escuela International de Cine y Television, Cuba,
- The opportunity for cross-course collaboration and the opportunity to work with a diverse student body,
- The opportunity to screen work on Channel M, an award-winning, Manchester city-wide television station which broadcasts on Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media
- The opportunity to work on industry set briefs and projects,
- The opportunity to collaborate with international partners in Cuba, Finland and China and on some programmes to study in those countries.
Salford University Skillset Media Academy has a strong research base and a growing number of PhD research students. Courses are well designed, delivered by enthusiastic well-qualified staff and are aimed at providing a workforce with the higher skills needed to support the ongoing development and future needs of the digital media production industry. The Academy is guided by an industrial advisory board chaired by Steve Hewlett which ensures that Salford provision continues to meet the demands of the media sector.
The Academy has a vibrant programme of CPD courses aimed at industry professionals and works with it's Academy partner People's Voice Media in the development of community and social media. Salford has very strong links with the media industries and has partnership agreements with the BBC, Red Productions, Guardian Media Group and Abbottvision..
The Salford University Skillset Media Academy will be an integral part of the University's development at Mediacity UK, the new home for the BBC in the North and will be developing a new suite of programmes to be based at Mediacity in purpose built, state of the art facilities.
