MA in Directing Animation

NFTS LogoThe two-year MA course in Directing Animation at the NFTS in Beaconsfield accepts eight students a year.

In their first year they develop their animation and storytelling skills, producing several project-based short films. During this year they work with students from other departments at the School including cinematographers, screenwriters, production designers, editors, sound and post production.

In the second year, student animation directors develop and direct their graduation films, working with crew from the other filmmaking disciplines in the School. The exceptional production facilities at the School include film and television stages, recording and dubbing studios, post production and visual fx, screening theatres and a render farm. Students also receive specialised individual tuition from practising professionals, according to the needs of their projects.

The department has excellent links with the industry: students have the opportunity to visit studios, take work placements and work on live projects. New graduates enter the world of work with a wide range of skills, experience and industry contacts and typically find employment soon after graduating.
